What is the difference between Megabits and Megabytes?

As we know that everything that we use to entertain ourselves comes from online. Internet speed matters a lot because faster the speed, faster the chances of being entertain with variety of programs, series and reality shows. But in today’s world where we have access to everything, we think twice while choosing a broadband package.

Internet users definitely know about Megabits because it is a unit of measurement to transfer the data. The downloading and uploading speed is measured in megabits per second.

While choosing a specific internet plan, the thing that you will see is downloading and uploading speeds are written in “Mbps”.

Mostly more downloading speed is required and less uploading but that difference is slight, both speeds are equally important, because to download the data, sometimes its content is rich.


Whereas megabyte is as well a data transfer rate but it is the speed of transferring data to the storage and memory on computer, it is not related to internet speed and one megabyte is equal to 8 megabits per second.
