World’s first shape-shifting tower is intended for Dubai
Dubai has already given the title of many man-made wonders, like the world’s largest Island, the world’s largest shopping mall. The world’s tallest building and now it is been heard that they are adding a new one in the “world’s Largest family”. And that would be the world’s first rotating skyscraper. And you might be thinking who will be the mastermind behind the idea. David Fisher an architect of Dynamic Architecture slugged this idea.
Fisher foresees an 80-story, 1,273-foot tower in Dubai with floors that can spin 360 degrees in both directions. He further revealed that the idea for a rotating tower that constantly modifies shape more than a decade ago whereas that inspiration he get from the Olympic Tower in New York.
“I noticed that from a certain spot you could see the East River and the Hudson River, both sides of Manhattan,” he said on Dynamic Architecture’s website. “That is when I thought to myself: ‘Why don’t we rotate the entire floor? That way, everybody can see the East River and the Hudson River, as well as Saint Patrick’s Cathedral!'”
Fisher first throws this idea back in 2008 but that time it remained off the ground, Now Dynamic Architecture look forward to the skyscraper. It is expected that the Tower will be completed by 2020 and it would be one of Dubai’s tallest buildings.
